Martin Imbleau spoke at the 2023 Rail Symposium on safety and climate resiliency

On November 16, 2023, Martin Imbleau spoke at the 2023 Rail Symposium organized jointly by the Rail Association of Canada and the Association québécoise des transports. Amidst a growing Canadian population, he explained how a Toronto – Québec City railway Corridor on dedicated tracks would pave the way for a fast, reliable, and safe passenger rail-system.

Martin spoke to industry leaders about Canada’s need for dedicated passenger rail noting the economic and population growth along the corridor. He cited that 94% of trips in the Québec to Toronto corridor are done by car and that the current passenger trains cannot compete due to priorities given to freight rail “You can’t escape road congestion by creating rail congestion” he said “… when passenger rail services have their own routes, and freight rail operators can concentrate on freight, we’ll have the best of both worlds. Satisfied passengers and a stronger, greener economy.”
